SHOC offers a 1 day course that is designed for delegates who require the ability to design and create a Safe System of Work and documents to operate machinery / plant within close proximity to overhead electric power lines in accordance with Health and Safety Guidance Notes GS6 (Fourth Edition) and Energy Networks Association Technical Specifications ENATS 43-8.

The awareness day will set out the criteria delegates will need to consider where access to a place of work may pass under, or the actual work activity, may be below or in close proximity to electric overhead power lines.

By the end of the course delegates will have an understanding ofthe health and safety requirements regarding their duty of care in providing information, instruction, responsibilities and the obligations of all parties including the local Distribution Network Operator at the design and creation of a Safe System of Work where work is to be carried out in close proximity to overhead electric power lines.

Delegates will also, by means of an aide memoir (information pack) provided on the day of the course, have the ability to identify various types of overhead lines and their voltages and the relevant clearances as set out by the Energy Network Association Specifications (ENATS 43-8) required to pass or work safely under electric overhead lines. The aide memoir will also include contact numbers and locations covered by the local Distribution Network Operators identifying the areas that they operate in. This will enable the delegate to consult with the network operator designated staff in accordance with GS6 at design stage of a scheme or in an emergency situation where the awareness now gained by the delegates would be vital.

We will always tailor the course to suite the specific needs of companies and the activity they carry out.
